CPL 10 | Cricket, Carnival and Cabaret | That’s how we play!

Caribbean carnival is back and back in style with inclusion of three women’s teams and will run alongside with men’s CPL. However, to start with only 4 women’s matches are allotted (Including Final) across 3 franchises, but it's a much needed start and goods bump for women’s cricket in the Caribbean region.

We are surrounded with various leagues around the globe but CPL has its own identity and variety that makes it special. As a viewer, you can feel the pool-party and carnival kind atmosphere as the game progresses and that adds additional glamour in your viewership experience. CPL’s official theme song ‘That’s how we play’ exactly suggests that why we called CPL as Cricketing Carnival at its best in the history of leagues around the globe.

The Caribbean Premier League (abbreviated to CPL or CPLT20) is an annual 6 Team Twenty20 cricket tournament held in the Caribbean Islands.

It was founded by Cricket West Indies in 2013 to replace the Caribbean Twenty20 as the premier Twenty20 competition in the Caribbean. It is currently sponsored by Hero MotoCorp and consequently officially named the Hero CPL. The inaugural tournament was won by the Jamaica Tallawahs who defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.

Past Champions of CPL  – Tribago Knight Riders hold the chart with 4 titles, Barbados Royals and Jamaica Tallawahs have won 2 titles each and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have won CPL for 1 time and they are defending champions as well.

Guyana Amazon Warrior was considered the most unlucky team of CPL as they couldn’t cross the finish line despite reaching the final 5 times. Guyana tried hard but every time they finished as runner-up, while Saint Lucia Kings also appeared in the final 2 times (Past 2 season) but couldn’t cross the finishing line. Arguably Tribago Knight Riders are the most successful franchisee in the history of CPL.

Tribago Knight Riders owned by SRK Group who owns Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, Saint Lucia Kings owned by Ness Wadia group who owns Punjab Kings in IPL and Barbados Royals owned by Raj Kundra group who owns Rajasthan Royals in IPL.

In the next couple of years we could see a one way flow of Indian ownership and dominations on around the globe leagues considering big bull investment in upcoming SA T20 League and ILT20 by IPL owners.

1) First Things First – CPL from Punter’s View – CPL is considered as one of the punters friendly leagues around the globe because of the carnival nature of the league. Over the period, CPL has produced some great, entertaining and punter friendly matches that feels more exciting about the league.

2) CPL 2021 Recap – CPL 2021 was considered as ‘OKAY’ from a punting point of view as 30% of total matches came in the category of ‘Straight Match’. For a change, for the first time in many years, CPL 2021 final has brought back carnival glory back in style as the final of CPL 2021 delivers all the excitement, drama, odds fluctuation, jackpots that a viewer and punter wants to see and experience for the final. (Last year there was no Play-offs system rather SF and Final played as knockout matches that brings total match to 33 instead of regular 34 matches)

CPL 2021 Summary with Odds as below 👇

- Straight Match - 10
- Jackpot Match (30p/20p/10p to Team Won) - 8
- Small Trading Match (20p/10p to 60p-70p) - 3
- 60p Mini Jackpot Match - 5
- 50p to 50p Trading Match (Both side rates) - 6
- TIE Match – 1

3) Venue Details for CPL 2022 – CPL 2022 will be played across 4 venues as caravan carnival style. The venues are Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts, Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Providence Stadium, Guyana. Providence Stadium, Guyana was also awarded for play-offs matches and hosted the final for CPL 2022.

- Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts – Home ground for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots team; Traditionally, Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre is considered as a good sporting wicket venue for cricket. Historically, the venue supports chasing teams more and wide-open space and windy conditions make it more difficult to defend totals.

Ground has 4-5 different pitches, out of 2 pitches are very slow and support spins and slow bowling more; hence which pitch is used at what games will play a major role in match odds and outcome. CPL’s caravan will kick-off from Warner Park and the first 7 matches will be played at the same venue.

- Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia – Home ground for St Lucia Kings; It’s one of the most un-predictable venues of CPL, Be extra careful while matches are going on in St Lucia. St Lucia will host a total of 8 matches in the middle phase (from match 8 to 15) of the caravan.

- Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad – Home ground for Tribago Knight Riders; It’s one of the oldest venues of Windies. TKR has healthy win percentage records at home ground and it is near to improbable to beat them at Port of Spain.

Traditionally, Port of Spain offers slow wickets that makes it difficult to chase high totals. 160-65 is considered as average par and comparative score as per grounds historical stats. Port of Spain will host a total of 8 matches in the middle phase (from match 16 to 23) of the caravan.

- Providence Stadium, Guyana – Home ground for Guyana Amazon Warriors; Providence Stadium considered as one of the slowest wickets in the world. Big boundaries and uneven nature of the pitch makes it a nightmare for the batters.

Spin and Slow bowlers always have an upper hand at Providence Stadium. 150-60 is considered as average par and comparative score as per grounds historical stats. Providence Stadium will host a total 11 matches (Including Play-Offs) at the end phase (from match 24 to Final) of caravan.

4) Caravan Style Match Allotment – Strategically, it is one of the unsung factors for punters that could be a game changer as far as punting is concerned. Each of 4 home teams will play 40% of their matches at their home ground (4/10) where/when the caravan is shifted from one venue to another.

This means that 4 matches will be played by the home team (every alternate match day) out of allotted 7-8 matches of caravan. In every aspect this could be a bit tricky for a punter to cope up with a continuous match of the same team in each phase and psychologically be prepared for the same kind of scripts as well.

As a punter you should make sure to move ahead as momentum shifts from one caravan to another as the home team will have the upper hand for sure during their home matches.

5) CPL Odds and Market Behaviour – Runs on the board always favours the odds in CPL as in most of the matches 160-65 considered as PAR score. There is no doubt that CPL has their own backyards ingredients of power-hitter batters but still market and odds start favours first bat when score is reaching to par score.

In CPL strong bowling attacks have always had an upper hand as league progress. In past years, CPL has almost 55-45% of ratio when it comes to Chase v Defend comparisons that suggest and prove that backing chasing teams blindly could hamper your pocket.

6) Team Tribago Knight Riders – TKR is one of the strongest and consistent teams of CPL. They finished half an inch closer to clinch the title for 5th time when they acquired Russell (from JT) and Pooran from (GAW) as a part of pre-draft signing.

This solid core needed to be supplemented in the main draft, but it was here the Knight Riders faltered to some extent, which has prevented them from becoming the all-conquering force everyone feared they could be. Knight Riders opted to buy back the overseas players who have previously featured for them and stuck to Trinidad & Tobago players only to complete their local pool.

7) Team Guyana Amazon Warriors – Guyana is one of the two teams to get to the knockouts every single season of CPL, including a record five final appearances but that silverware has remained elusive for the Warriors. Warriors have lost two of its batting pillars in Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King from last year with both of them deciding to move back to their respective home bases.

As far as batting is concerned Shimron Hetmyer will have to carry bulk of the load and Tabraiz Shamsi has to carry bowling. Traditionally, Guyana is considered a good defend team rather than a chase team.

Last phase of the tournament will be played at their home turf that is also considered as a slow wicket and defend venue by nature. Last phase of the tournament will decide the fortune and faith for Guyana for the season.

8) Team Jamaica Tallawahs – JT and their fans all reasons to worry with the start of CPL. JT had three mediocre seasons on the bounce finishing last in 2019, second last in 2021 and while they just sneaked into the semis in 2020 despite winning just three matches.

On top of all controversies Andre Russell leaving the franchise having called it the weirdest franchise he ever played says everything is not fine within the franchisee. Two times champion team looks the weakest side on paper and if they don't get the act together early on, another long season awaits.

9) Team Barbados Royals – BR or formally BT (Barbados Trident) considered and recognised as ‘RCB’ of CPL by all means and standard they have maintained. Team is doing well in patches but when it comes to cross the line BR do’s the exact same as ‘RCB’ does in IPL.

BR’s nature of making the match from nowhere makes the team one of the favourite teams from a punter's angle. Following two downbeat seasons, the only way for the Royals is up. If they find their winning formula early in the season, they stand a chance to be the potential dark horses.

10) Team St Kitts & Nevis Patriots – St Kitts progressed from past 2-3 CPL season is a live example of fairy-tale comes to live and is true. The defending champions have maintained the bulk of the core, which won them the title last season. The big change is at the top of the order where Fletcher has replaced Chris Gayle and the other notable new addition being that of Hasaranga in place of Fawad Ahmed.

St Kitts is always considered as a slow starter and past seasons have witnessed it. It will be interesting to see how Dwayne Bravo handles the captainship again, if he can marshal his resources well, a second title is well on the cards for Patriots.

11) Team Saint Lucia Kings – Saint Lucia Kings are considered as one of the most unpredictable teams of CPL. We suggest punters to be very careful while taking odds up in Saint Lucia matches as in most of the matches BLUFF RATES only fluctuated. Team is doing well since the past 2 seasons and this season as well they have retained their CORE cope.

The Kings would need to defy the odds for the third season in a row. They would be banking heavily on their big ticket names to plaster over the weakness in multiple areas and carry them through to the knockouts.

12) Good Teams – Tribago Knight Riders, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

13) Bad Teams – Jamaica Tallawahs, Barbados Royals

14) Punter Friendly & JP Teams – St Lucia Kings, Guyana Amazon Warriors

15) Our Top 4 Finish Pick – Tribago Knight Riders, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Lucia Kings

16) Double-Header’s Dilemma – Double-header match days are considered a headache for punters to place the bets and it has even got worse when double-headers played on the same venue and same pitch. CPL is also offering the same scenarios for most of the matches. Here the most important catch is not to concentrate what happened in first match rather concentrate on team and odds; To make it more bluff, we may observe first match having low score on the board and second match having high scoring encounter.

That’s the ploy that markets play very efficiently and put punters in confusion. Key to success as a punter is to take double-header matches as one-match at a time and put the bets according to match, team and odds situation. Do not make the big mistakes of taking the first match as a reference and apply the same on the second match.

17) 10th Season of CPL – CPL 2022 will be celebrated as the 10th season of the league and an important milestone is achieved by CWI board. History suggests that whenever any league celebrates their milestone, that edition of the league is written with ‘Golden Ink’ from a punting point of view.

If you look at back records for IPL’s 5th season (2012), IPL’s 10th season (1017), IPL’s 15th Season (2022), BBL’s 5th season (2015-16), BBL’s 10th season (2020-21), CPL’s 5th season (2017), PSL’s 5th season (2020) – All these past leagues of around the globe examples has proven that milestone season are much punter friendly season as compared to normal season and that breaks all the records of punting and match odds as league progressed.

As per our prediction, CPL 10 will also be purely punter friendly and will give you a LSD dose of entertainment, thrill, and carnival with good profit.

18) Chase V Defend Jackpot Scenarios – Overall punter will witness more on chase jackpot scenarios. Historically, Defend jackpot will give you a good amount of trading but chase jackpot will give a chance of encash full profit.

As per our prediction with CPL 10, we could witness more chase jackpot on the cards. So, as a punter, whenever you find a strong team in a nervous situation in the second innings, you can chase the jackpot in style by backing them on high odds.

19) Weather Impact – As the entire CPL will be played at an isolated Caribbean Island, it is advisable to have a look at the weather before the start of the match for the respective match day. This will give a bit of fair idea of how the weather will ploy and as a punter you can define your strategy around match trading.

20) Trading in CPL 10 – Trading will be key to success in CPL 10 for punters. As mentioned earlier it is a milestone year of the league and we could witness good punter friendly matches around. Here, if punters apply their common sense and focus on good trading, it will definitely be a profitable series for punters.

Don’t run behind team and market shout rather apply your own logic and make profit out of trading. Right and perfect trade will give you more profit than picking up the right team.

So this is all about 'CPL 10'. As per our standards, we have tried to share all possible things in detail to ensure as a punter you have clear idea on most of the important aspects like CPL history, Venue Analysis, Team Strengths, Caravan Style, Odds Behaviour and some special Tips/Tricks that allows you to make good profit out of CPL 10.

Additionally – We often hear about bookmaker related fraud in the market, sometimes when you are on a good winning note, a bookmaker refuses to release or withdraw your winning amount. This leads to further frustration to punter and act as salt on wounds.

To avoid such things, it is better to play at your city’s local bookmaker only, in the worst case if you are unable to find genuine bookmakers around you with 24X7 service then you can choose and trust on our own product ‘Khan Dada Online Hub’.
