Sound Checks, Lights, Camera & Action – Finally after all financial, broadcasting deals and franchisee issues; curtain will open for newly born league SA20 will kick-off in 2023 in style. Thanks majorly to Indian financier and tycoons that make it happen and in many terms SA20 considers it an official version of MINI IPL where owners of all six franchisee are from the IPL.
This is not the first time that South Africa has attempted a full fledged league; in 2018 they have started Mzansi Super League which runs for 2 editions but after that league ran into internal disputes with franchisee owner and broadcasting rights. On top of that COVID-19 pandemic did the job of final nail in the coffin and at last Cricket South Africa has scrapped Mzansi Super League in 2021 and that opens the door and opportunity for IPL owners to mark their footprint on South African soil.
1) League Formats – Inaugural SA20 will run from January 10, 2023 to February 11, 2023. All six teams play against each other in Double Round-Robin in home and away stadium venues. The winning team will be awarded two points and in case of tie, both teams will be awarded a point. (There will be no Super Over in the group stage) After the Double Round-Robin, the top three teams in the points table will qualify for the next round of the playoffs. If two teams have equal points, then the qualification will be based on run rate (NRR). There are a total of 33 matches in the first edition of SA20 League, out of which 30 are group stage matches, 2 semi finals and 1 grand finale. In the grand finale, the winning team is crowned the champion.
2) Match Timing – Match timings are best suited for Indian viewers as it starts at 9 PM IST. When there will be a double header in that case match timing is 5 PM IST for the first match and 9 PM IST for the second match. 4) Weather Challenge – In South Africa November to February are considered as a bit of a wet season with expect some rain, thunderstorms and plenty of opportunity for birding. As a wise punter it is always a good habit to check days weather for each match day; this practice will eventually help to strategies your bet and trade.
5) Venue Details – 6 different venues will be used in SA20. Every team has a specific home ground in its respective city.
👉 Kingsmead Cricket Ground, Durban – Home ground for Durban’s Super Giants team. Kingsmead is a venue where bowlers licking their lips and enjoy the swings. Durban pitch offers a good contest between bat, ball, and supports the first bat team by far margin. Average Par score is 155-65. Strong bowling teams always have an upper hand at Durban and that’s key to success for defending a par or average score. Total number of Matches allotted are 5.
👉 Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg – Home ground for Joburg Super Kings team. Wanderers offer true pitch while coming into the contest. Batsmen are enjoying much here as the ball comes nicely to the bat and short square allows run fest. Historically, Wanderers is not much punter friendly ground as it often dice the roll bluffs, be careful with wanderers matches. Average Par score is 165-70. Total number of matches allotted are 7 (Including SF and Final).
👉 Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town – Home ground for MI Cape Town team. Newlands also offers good batting tracks with high good scoring venues. Chase is the key at Newlands, teams have had a high chase ratio at Newlands in recent pasts. Average par score is 170. Total number of matches allotted are 5.
👉 Boland Park, Paarl – Home ground for Paarl Royals team. Boland park is considered as the high bluff ground of Africa in the recent past. Traditionally supports bat first and run on the board. Average par score is 165. Total number of matches allotted are 5.
👉 Centurion Park, Centurion – Home ground for Pretoria Capitals team. Centurion offers truly hard and batting tracks, no total is safe at centurion and it is considered as batters paradise. Chasing team has always had an upper hand at Centurion with short boundaries and high due factors. Average par score is 175-80. Total number of matches allotted are 6 (Including SF).
👉 St George’s Park, Gqeberha, Port Elizabeth – Home ground for Sunrisers Eastern Cape team. Gqeberha venue is a bit of a red alert zone for punters, be very careful at this venue considering the team home team combinations as well. Traditionally supports good chase but often does mystery tricks with punters. Average par score is 165-70. Total number of matches allotted are 5.
6) Team Durban’s Super Giants – Team Durban has a good mix of fast, slow and spin in their bowling line up that suits Durban wicket very much but batting is highly dependent on de kock, kyle mayers and klaasen. Considering good bowling strength this team can do good while bat first at home ground but can slip while chasing a high score. Punters should take this in consideration while playing away matches and chasing a score. As per our analysis, Durban’s Super Giants will finish in top 4.
7) Team Joburg Super Kings – We can see a fully functional CSK kind of setup in Joburg Super Kings with Stephen Fleming as a coach and Faf du Plessis as captain. On paper a very balanced team with enough fire power in batting and good mix-up in the bowling department. Team management has prepared the best possible team that suits Joburg venue and we could witness that Joburg Super Kings invisible at home matches. As per our analysis, the Joburg Super Kings will finish in top 4.
8) Team MI Cape Town – MI Cape Town have every ingredient that a solid T20 franchisee team would love in their kitty. MI Cape Town has ticked all boxes in the draft and managed to create a strong base in the batting and bowling department. There is no major negative point of MI Cape Town but they may miss a firepower in finishing the game in crunch situations. As per our analysis, MI Cape Town will finish in top 4.
9) Team Paarl Royals – Paarl Royals is the best trading team of the league. Just like RR of IPL this team is also considered as a slow poison team. Punters with patience will do a good trading and profit with Paarl Royals for sure. This team will be a team to washout from punters angle in the league. As per our analysis, Paarl Royals will finish in top 4.
10) Team Pretoria Capitals – Be very careful with Pretoria Capitals otherwise, this team will reduce your capital from your pocket. A team led by Parnell and Coach as Graham Ford there is no second invitation to punters to understand how they will behave on the field. The good things about these kinds of teams are that they are bit punter friendly and punters can earn with trading specially by playing against it.
11) Team Sunrisers Eastern Cape – There is nothing much on the cards except Markram and Stubbs for Sunrisers Eastern Cape. They had made a blunder of the joke during the auction and as a result, the team has no real balance in it. Nothing much to say about Sunrisers Eastern Cape, if possible avoid Sunrisers Easter Cape match for the same reason.
12) South African Pitches and Bat First Advantage – Around the globe; South African pitches are well known for their corridor of uncertainty but overall odds support bat first and runs on the board. It has unique characteristics of Chase and Defend; anything below 150 is hard to defend and anything above 165 is hard to chase and this 15 runs gap is wide open as a corridor of uncertainty.
13) Chase V Defend Ratio – Overall, we will see chase will have an upper hand considering the IPL impact and ingredients. However, that will not allow blindly put your trade on chase but rather put on team strength and situation. As per our analysis, we could witness 60-40% ratio in Chase V Defend and high chance of more off chase JP then defend.
14) First Phase & Last Phase – As per our analysis league's first phase and last phase would be key to success from punting angle. Middle phase could be more dicey and produce some bluff matches so as a punter plan your strategy accordingly.
15) TOP 4 Finish – Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals and Durban’s Super Giants
16) JP/Trading Teams – Paarl Royals, Durban's Super Giants
17) Dark Horse Teams – MI Cape Town, Joburg Super Kings
18) Bookie Teams – Pretoria Capitals, Sunrisers Eastern Cape
19) List of some Punter Friendly Matches – MI Cape Town V Paarl Royals, Joburg Super Kings V MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals V Pretoria Capitals, Durban’s Super Giants V Paarl Royals
20) IPL Owner And Impact – Believe it or not but the entire league will play in accordance with the IPL blueprint in terms of marketing, team performance, match odds and most importantly session. As a punter think and act as it’s MINI IPL only and teams will carry more or less the same blueprint of as in IPL franchise. Key to success in SA20’s first edition is take it as a MINI IPL only, yes players are changed, venue are changed, conditions are changed but team owners and their team management ingredients are same; It’s always hard to predict 100% but as per our analysis and experience all 6 team will act and behave exactly same as they were known for in IPL.
21) Trade & Earn – Trading will be a key to success for punters in this league considering lot's of factors like inaugural edition, new setup of broadcaster, IPL ingredients and TRP. There will be not much dull moments in most of the matches; Most of the matches will go into the wire and that will open a little window of profit where punter square off their trade and enjoy rest of the match but for that punter has to apply their common seance/logic to get maximum profit out of it.
Additionally – We often hear about bookmaker related fraud in the market, sometimes when you are on a good winning note, a bookmaker refuses to release or withdraw your winning amount. This leads to further frustration to punter and act as salt on wounds. To avoid such things, it is better to play at your city’s local bookmaker only, in the worst case if you are unable to find genuine bookmakers around you with 24X7 service then you can choose and trust on our own product ‘Khan Dada Online Hub’.
