9/11 – In many terms this date has a special mark on the history with contrasting events on different years that change the course of the world political agenda and point-of-view of many on world map and cricketing map. In 2001, a tragic terrorist attack on American soil that world had never witnessed and in 2007, a tragic hard-hitting attack on African soil that cricketing world yet to witnessed.
Although it was a pilot run, ICC and broadcasters had heavy losses by hosting the 50 Over World Cup in West Indies (Thanks to 1st round exit of India and Pakistan). As it was a relatively, very newly formed format not all were sure and confident about it, cricketing pundits had put the comments as 'GARBAGE' and senior players were also reluctant to play. Most of the viewers might not know that the BCCI who is now enjoying their overwhelming success in the IPL (T20 Format) has sent the B team without a coach.
Finally, the date 9/11/2007 arrived and the venue was Johannesburg; an official announcement of the craziest gaming culture that the world will witness for the generations. In an inaugural match West Indies play against host nation South Africa. West Indies bat first and smashed 205/6 in their 20 overs with Chris Gayle scoring a century (117, MoM) and in reply South Africa chased the total in style with Herschelle Gibbs smashed quick fire nighties (90*).
A well begun is half done and that is the exact TON set in the first ever match of T20 World Cup. As the inaugural tournament progressed, it achieved record viewership and fan base across the cricket-playing nation. At the end, Final match of the tournament (India V Pakistan) put a stamp of authority on the format and the rest is history!
That is how it began with the title as World Twenty-Twenty (WT20) not a name as ‘World Cup T20’ as ICC also had some inside fear to impact on the original 50 Over World Cup as far as naming convention is concerned. Finally, in 2019 ICC has given the WT20 tournament as the official World Cup of T20 and from 2021 onwards the tournament will be renewed as T20 World Cup.
WCT20 2022 is 8th Edition of T20 World Cup and no other than West Indies has won an illusive title for 2 times and host country is yet to win T20 World Cup at home soil, past winner of T20 World Cup are as below π

1) First Round (Qualification to Super 12) – Four teams from the two groups in the first round will make it through to the second round. UAE, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Namibia are in Group A in the first round; Ireland, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Scotland in Group B. The top two teams from each group will go into the two groups in the Super 12s. Venues for the first round are Simonds Stadium, Geelong (Group A) and Bellerive Oval, Hobart (Group B). First round will span from 16th October to 21st October.
2) Second Round (Super 12) – 6 teams from the two groups in the second round (Super 12) will make it through to the Semi Final spot. Afghanistan, Australia, England and New Zealand + A1 and B2 (From First Round) are in Group 1 in Super 12 Round; Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and South Africa + A2 and B1 (From First Round) are in Group 2 in Super 12. The top two teams from each of those Super 12 groups will make it to the semi-finals. Second Round (Super 12) will span from 22nd October to 6th November. Finals Round (SF+Final) will start from 9th November.
3) Weather Challenge – Australia is the country that had faced a lot of climate change disasters in past years. Weather radar looks a bit ambiguous during the time of the World Cup. It's advice that MUST CHECK the weather forecast properly before the start of any match and place the bet accordingly.
4) Venue Details – 7 different venues will be used in World Cup, each venue has its own characterises and pitch behaviour, check it out in detail as below π
-- Simonds Stadium, Geelong – Geelong is one of the contrasting and unpredictable venues of Australia. Traditionally ground is used for Football and Rugby matches and for Cricket running amendment and modification made over drop-in pitches and boundaries sizes. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 6 (Qualifying Round Only).
-- Bellerive Oval, Hobart – Hobart is considered as one of the Chase Favourite grounds in Australia. As square boundaries are small, no total is much safe at Hobart as we witnessed in BBL as well. 170-80 considered as good fighting and PAR total at Hobart. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 9 (Qualifying Round + Super 12).
-- Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne – MCG is often considered as the Master of Collapse Ground. MCG has witnessed a large number of collapses in major multi-national events/tournaments. With big square boundaries and dead nature of pitches, MCG always preferred runs on the board. Anything over 165-70 will be difficult to chase and anything below 155-50 will be difficult to defend, that is how the pitch and nature of MCG. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 7 (Super 12 + Grand Finale).
-- Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney – SCG considered as a true sporting venue in Australia. With spin friendly wickets, SCG offers a true veteran style of cricket in the modern era. 165 is considered as a PAR score and by nature the SCG venue defends favour ground. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 7 (Super 12 + Semi Final).
-- Adelaide Oval, Adelaide – Adelaide is one of the punter friendly grounds of Australia. Adelaide has witnessed unbelievable matches and turn-around in the past (irrespective of format). Punter will enjoy trading in Adelaide matches. 165-70 is considered a PAR score at Adelaide. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 7 (Super 12 + Semi Final).
-- The Gabba, Brisbane – Gabba is one of the pace paradise venues of the modern era. Fast bowlers will enjoy the true and fast wicket of Gabba. By nature Gabba as well is in line with MCG having the same nature on PAR score. Anything over 165-70 will be difficult to chase and anything below 155-50 will be difficult to defend. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 4 (Super 12).
-- Perth Stadium, Perth – Perth Stadium or Optus Stadium is a newly build stadium in Perth that replaced traditionally W.A.C.A. Very few international T20 matches are played in the new Perth stadium hence not much exposure on PAR score as sample size is very small. However, BBL records its ground that favours bat first with added advantage on odds. Total Number of Matches Allotted – 5 (Super 12).

6) Australia as Host Nation for Punters – There will be little joy moments witnessed as far as punting stats are concerned when Australia as Host Nations for an ICC event. We could witness most of the matches with one side affairs with little window of trading. Australia is a place where international bookmakers like bet365 and betfair are holding a significant share of the market and that load will not allow a good trading window.
Overall we could witness a stiff 70-30% ratio as far as punter friendly matches. As a punter we would suggest you to put your bet wisely as it's the world cup and if you check with stats and history, World Cups are never more of punter friendly and history never lies!
7) First Bat v Second Bat – As explained in venue analysis, traditionally runs-on-the boards are always supported hard by odds in Australian pitches as overall anything above 165-70 chase would be a bit difficult considering condition and less/zero due factors. As a punter you can make wise decisions based on the PAR score as explained for each venue, 8/10 times you will get good profit out of it.
8) Over-Rates Rule – 85 minutes are allotted per inning (Exclude 10 over drink break), if fielding team fails to start penultimate over inside 85 minutes, team will have field with only 4 fielders outside 30 yard circle; Its race against the time and clearly benefit to batting team. As a punter keep eye on watch as well as penultimate over could cause you heavy loss instead of ‘Profit on Paper’ especially in session and tight run chase/defend scenarios.
9) Net Run-Rate Scenarios – It's not uncommon in such tournaments for more than two teams to end up on the same number of points. Then it often comes down to net run rate, though only comes into the reckoning if the teams can't be separated by number of wins.
If two teams are tied on net run rates too, the next tiebreaker parameter is the number of wins in matches between them and then the net run rate in those matches. If that still doesn't resolve the tie, the sides higher in the pre-tournament seeding will progress. The pre-tournament seeding order is: England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Scotland, Namibia, Zimbabwe, UAE, Netherlands, Ireland.
10) New Batter on Strike – ICC has officially applied the rule from 1st October. Except Run-Out ends scenarios a new batter will be on strike for the next ball bowled by the fielding team. It puts an end to the Cross (over) rule where a Cross (over) batter considered in strike in case of catch is taken. This new rule could make a significant impact on session calculation in death overs.
11) Running-out a non-striker – ICC has officially applied/revised the ‘MANKAND’ rule from 1st October. The practice is being normalised, though some sections still think of it as being underhanded. The MCC has moved its ruling on such run outs from the law on unfair play to the one on run outs, so watch out for more non-strikers being caught outside their crease before the ball is bowled. Not only in up-coming T20 World Cup but also in it could make a significant impact on all future matches where the match could be floated in favour of bookmakers/load.
12) First Round Group Analysis (Qualification to Super 12) – Group A is a relatively open group considering the team strength of Sri Lanka and Namibia. Match between Namibia and Netherland could be a match of the group and the winner will have the upper hand on qualifying. Group B is the group of death as West Indies, Ireland and Zimbabwe are locking horns in the race for top 2 finish. Here, in Group B West Indies unit looks in a very dicey situation, they could bluff punters and odds and be a little careful in West Indies matches.
13) Second Round Group Analysis (Super 12) – Group 1 is considered as the Group of Death here as Australia, England and New Zealand are placed together. Afghanistan is also there but we could discount them considering the overall crisis they are facing and less match experience in Down Under.
The Afghanistan match against a qualified team could be more interesting and a fighting one. Group 2 is a bit of a wide open group having South Africa a relatively weaker side in group, as a unit South Africa is a good team but Temba Bavuma as a leader has failed to make it count as a Winning Team, Unless Pakistan do a Pakistani Thing, It'll be India & Pakistan both will go In Semi's
14) Big Match Fiasco – As it happened in all World Cups, we could witness a high time fiasco in big matches like India V Pakistan, Australia v England, Australia V New Zealand and India V South Africa. We observed that big matches like this are heavily loaded and that turn out to be less punter friendly. Hence, in such matches, play with caution and with a small limit for enjoyment only.
15) Smaller Team Big Profit – Matches between lower ranked teams could be a more profitable match for punters, focusing on such matches where as a punter you can trade and win. There are such matches which we could see a good profit are; Pakistan v South Africa, Afghanistan v Sri Lanka, Pakistan v Bangladesh, Sri Lanka v New Zealand.
16) MY PERSONAL CHOICE FOR THE Top 4 SF Teams – Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan
17) Chase V Defend Jackpot Scenarios – As it's Australia, we could witness more Defend Jackpot scenarios. As already explained, runs on the board will have a significant impact on odds.
Additionally – We often hear about bookmaker related fraud in the market, sometimes when you are on a good winning note, a bookmaker refuses to release or withdraw your winning amount. This leads to further frustration to punter and act as salt on wounds. To avoid such things, it is better to play at your city’s local bookmaker only, in the worst case if you are unable to find genuine bookmakers around you with 24X7 service then you can choose and trust on our own product ‘Khan Dada Online Hub’.
