The Hundred | EVERY BALL COUNTS!!!

We have just finished and witnessed cricket's oldest rivalry (The Ashes) in cricket's oldest format (in grand style) and that curtains bring in cricket’s newest format in style. In the oldest format of the game (The Tests) a SESSION decides a fate and direction of the game where in the newest format of the game (The Hundred) a SET OF 5/10 balls decides a fate of the game..That’s how the life around cricket has been changed nowadays as a SESSION replaced by a SET OF 5/10 balls by changing the format.

1) History – Historically, The Hundred as a league is still at baby steps and finding their space among T20 leagues around the globe. However, the past 2 seasons got a good response and that led the ECB to continue with the experiment. First season started in 2021 where Southern Brave won the inaugural title and Trent Rockets were defending champions!

2) Rules – As The Hundred is very special and different from other leagues so it’s really important to brush-up on rules to understand the game-play in a better way to avoid error/mistakes in bet/trading.

πŸ‘‰ Tournament Format – Total 8 Teams, 32 League Matches (Each team will play 8 match in Home/Away fashion); At end of the league stage, Table Topper team will directly qualify for the final and team finished with 2nd and 3rd position will play a solitary Eliminator round and winner of that Eliminator round will face table topper team in the grand finale.

πŸ‘‰ 100 Balls Game – Number of overs replaced by number of balls that is 100 balls per innings.

πŸ‘‰ Change of Bowling Ends – A change of ends after 10 balls set.

πŸ‘‰ 5/10 Balls set – A Bowler delivers either 5 or 10 consecutive balls, with each bowler can deliver a maximum of 20 balls per game.

πŸ‘‰ 25 Balls Power-play – A 25-ball power play start for each team in which only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle.

πŸ‘‰ 3 Overseas/Foreign Player Allowed in Playing 11 – Unlike other leagues where 4 Overseas/Foreign Player Allowed in Playing 11, The Hundred has restricted it to max 3 Overseas/Foreign Player Allowed in Playing 11 to boost their local/domestic players talent.

πŸ‘‰ New batter take strike – The non-striker must return to their original end after a wicket, except run-out scenario that leads to a New batter will take a strike every time when wicket falls (except run-out).

πŸ‘‰ 2 runs for No Balls – No-balls are worth two runs and a free hit.

πŸ‘‰ 2 Minute Strategic Timeout – Each bowling side gets a strategic time-out of 2 minutes after power play finishes (First 25 balls) and can take at any stage of game before the start of 90th ball of the game.

πŸ‘‰ 1 DRS Review allowed – Each team entitled for 1 successful DRS review per inning.

πŸ‘‰ Min 25 Balls for Match Results – Minimum of 25 balls of each innings has to be bowled to decide match results OR in other words minimum of 25 ball game is required for match results.

πŸ‘‰ Revised DLS for 100 balls – ECB has tweaked in DRS that suits for 100 balls and DRS result will be decided as per revised DLS.

πŸ‘‰ Over-Rate Penalty – Slow over-rates are penalised by one fewer fielder being permitted outside the ring for the final set. Cut-off time to start 90th ball is 1.15 hrs.

πŸ‘‰ Super Five for Tie Match – Applicable for knockout matches only (Eliminator and Final) – They have replaced super over with super five in hundred that allows each team to bowl 5 balls to determine the result for Tie Match. Any tie in the league stage will be awarded 1-1 points to each team.

πŸ‘‰ Match Toss outside Ground/Pitch Area – It’s not mandatory to have a toss at ground/pitch area whereas in 100, A match toss can happen anywhere in ground, it could be at band box or at edge of the boundary.

3) Venue Details – The Hundred will play across the 8 venues as in Home/Away style with each venue awarded 4 home matches for their respective franchisee. Kennington Oval and The Lord’s, London will host 1-1 more matches then other venues as Eliminator and Finals are awarded to this venue irrespective of table position.

πŸ‘‰ Lord's, London Home Team London Spirit – The Lord’s considered as a ‘The Mecca’ of cricket and believe it or not but it’s one of the bluffest venues of all time where unpredictable results wait for their own glory. As a punter be very careful with Lord’s matches as most of the matches are full of bluff. Traditionally supports bats first for a reason. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 150-55.

πŸ‘‰ Kennington Oval, LondonHome Team Oval Invisibles – Oval considered as one off run fest venue of England nowadays, with flat pitches and practise pitches at boundary it makes it more difficult to defend a total at the Oval. Mediocre total will chase easily at the Oval, Team needs to post over 160 to be a safer side at matches at Oval. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 165-70.

πŸ‘‰ Trent Bridge, Nottingham Home Team Trent Rockets – Another venue that offers run fest at its best. Nottingham pitches are considered a nightmare for the bowlers in the shortest format. Mediocre total will chase easily at Nottingham, Team needs to post over 160 to be a safer side at matches at Nottingham. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 165-70.

πŸ‘‰ The Rose Bowl, SouthamptonHome Team Southern Brave – Southampton offers a true and bouncing pitch that allows bowlers to keep interested in the game. With strong bowling line-ups in kitty a team can defend mediocre total as well at this venue. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 155-60.

πŸ‘‰ Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester Home Team Manchester Originals  – Old Trafford considered as chase master ground in many terms. Old Trafford offered good pitches that supported both a good batting and good bowling side as well. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 160-65.

πŸ‘‰ Edgbaston, BirminghamHome Team Birmingham Phoenix – Birmingham is the venue that every punter licks their lips, from ages Birmingham has produced jaw dropping matches with JP (don’t go too far just have a look at recently concluded Vitality Blast’s Final Day results).  As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 150-55.

πŸ‘‰ Sophia Gardens, CardiffHome Team Welsh Fire – Cardiff considered as the most unpredictable venue of England. At times it offers run fest and at times low scoring affairs, so as a punter be very careful while placing bets when matches at Cardiff. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 155-60.

πŸ‘‰ Headingley, Leeds Home Team Northern Superchargers – Headingly is another venue where punters enjoy their trading. Radiantly supports bat first by far margin. As per 100 stats Average par winning score is 155-60.

4) Weather Impact – It’s always a wise call to have a weather check on a daily basis before a match starts in the UK. UK weather was clear till mid-July but now has picked-up with high intensity. 6) Team London Spirit – We have only one suggestion to punters that be stay away/careful with the London Spirit team in this year’s edition of the hundred. Team London Spirit have players in bit/pieces but missing a genuine firepower in both batting and bowling department that requires the most in this format to succeed. London Spirit can produce a good performance but will definitely fall short with the team composition they have. Team London Spirit have a good bowling line-up but they may fail to chase a good big total on the board.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Good mix of bowling attach with variety of spin n slow bowlers

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – They have failed to build a team that requires 100 format (Firepower is missing)

7) Team Oval Invisibles – Team Oval could be the team to watch for this year’s edition of the hundred. This team has produced good matches in the past but somehow they couldn’t manage to finish in the top-3 in the past 2 editions of the league. This could be a game changing year for Team Oval Invincible as they have built a strong core unit.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Powerful Top and Middle Order with mix of good Bowling Attack

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Genuine match finisher is missing, have to rely on Curran brothers

8) Team Trent Rockets – Team Trent Rockets ticked all boxes this year as well and we are hoping they do well this year as well. Inclusion of Daniel Sams will give them much needed stability in the fast bowling department and in bowling all-rounders as well.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Well Balanced Side with Powerful Spin Attack

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Pace Bowling

9) Team Southern Brave Team Southern Brave considered as a slow poison team at times as slowly it bites the punter that hurts a lot. On paper the team looks settled with a strong top/middle order core with genuine best pace attack amongst all the teams. Spin department looks a bit low weight as Santner is the only recognised spinner there.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Well Balanced Side with powerful Pace Attack

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Spin Bowling

10) Team Manchester Originals – Team Manchester Originals considered as a team of unpredictability in many ways; One day Up, Next day down. However, the team has a good solid core but somehow they failed to produce the magic as per the name they have in their kitty. This year will also no wonder if they continue to play the same brand of cricket.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Solid experience core group of cricketers

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Genuine finisher is missing and Spin department looks low on the cards

11) Team Birmingham Phoenix – Team Birmingham Phoenix is a team that has individual match winners on their own day but the problem is when they fail they all are like ash of phoenix. Over the years Team Birmingham Phoenix has produced some entertaining cricket and this year as well they will entertain for sure.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Well Balanced Side with Youth and Experienced Players

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Spin Bowling and Inconsistency

12) Team Welsh Fire – Team Welsh Fire is a team that fails to fire big time over the past 2 seasons. This season they have roped in Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf in their kitty but badly missing with the spin department and genuine finisher. Team needs a genuine spinner and finisher in shorter format to go all the way in fast paced tournaments like the hundred. It will be interesting to see how they move this year.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Presence of Johny Bairstow and Tom Abell as Captain

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Spin Bowling and Genuine Match Finisher

13) Team Northern Superchargers – Team Northern Superchargers is another team that is built around a strong experience core with youth talent. Over the years this team has produced lots of positives but failed to win a crunch moment, we are hoping that this year this team will move ahead as per the actual capability and ability of the team. We are hoping that Ben Stocks should play this season as full and that could be a make it season for Team Northern Superchargers.

πŸ‘‰ Team Strength – Well Balanced Side with powerful Pace Attack

πŸ‘‰ Team Weakness – Spin Bowling

14) Short Formats Favours Bookie – Always remember the shorter the format, the higher chance of losing money as short format doesn’t allow odds to be stable and punters have a tendency to think, wait and that tendency kills your profit. Key to success in format like The Hundred is to book your profit wherever you get a chance (specially where tables turn from low) as game/odds could be changed in the blink of an eye/within the next ball.

15) First and Last 25 Balls – First 25 and Last 25 balls of the inning will be crucial in this format that could make or break the game. Be extra active/cautious in this period of the game to avoid loss/miss-opportunity.

16) High Scoring Venues – Nottingham, Oval, Southampton

17) Punter Friendly Venues – Birmingham, Headingley

18) Un-Predictable Venues – Manchester, Cardiff

19) Bluff Venues – The one n Only Lord's

20) Good Teams – Oval Invisibles, Trent Rockets, Southern Brave

21) Bluff Teams – London Spirit, Welsh Fire, Birmingham Phoenix

22) Punter Friendly/Dark Horse Teams – Northern Superchargers, Manchester Originals

23) Top 3  FinishOval Invisibles, Trent Rockets, and Southern Brave / Northern Superchargers

24) Chase V Defend Dilemma – Shorter formats always support chase and impact of chasing team have high on the odds. But that comes with lots of permutation and combination, small/mediocre total will chase easily while big score will defend in style. As a punter needs to apply match awareness to trade effectively in fast pacing format.

25) Session/Lambi – We strongly recommend that you don’t apply your brain in a session in this format. Stay away with session/lambi in this format as only MAGIC works here where there is no space of LOGIC/EXPERIENCE.

26) List of Punter Friendly Matches  – London Spirit VS Southern Brave, Trent Rockets VS Northern Superchargers, Southern Brave VS Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles VS London Spirit, Welsh Fire vs Manchester Originals, London Spirit Vs Welsh Fire, Trent Rockets VS Manchester Originals, Oval Invincibles VS Southern Brave

27) Learning from Past 2 Seasons – We have closely watched/observed past 2 seasons and learned that this format is not designed for ultimate punters; rather their (ECB’s) objective was to introduce something new and make some noise/entertainment around the crowd and global circuit. 70% of past 2 season matches were full of entertaining but full of bluff as far as odds are concerned and 30% of the matches that we can call actual Jackpot/Punter friendly matches. Hoping that this year we could see some more competitive and punter friendly matches.

Additionally – We often hear about bookmaker related fraud in the market, sometimes when you are on a good winning note, a bookmaker refuses to release or withdraw your winning amount. This leads to further frustration to punter and act as salt on wounds. To avoid such things, it is better to play at your city’s local bookmaker only, in worst case if you are unable to find genuine bookmakers around you with 24X7 service then you can choose and trust on our own product ‘Khan Dada Online Hub’. Khan Dada – Always remember the name, it’s not only the NAME, it’s BRAND!
