After BCCI Central Contract snub Shreyas Iyer makes much-awaited return in IND vs. SL 1st ODI
After a long break, the star batsman of the Indian Cricket Team, ShreyasIyer, is going to make his comeback. After the ODI World Cup 2023, Iyer snapped his Central contract because he failed to play domestic matches despite being asked to. Both he and Ishan Kishan didn’t get their central contract. But Iyer continued his heroics and guided the Kolkata Knight Riders to lift the IPL 2024 title.
And now, in the era of GuatamGambhir, Iyer received a callback in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. And the India Cricket Team star gets his much-awaited call-up for the IND vs. SL 1st ODI.
Shreyas complained of a back injury but was medically cleared by the NCA. As a result, the BCCI didn’t take the matter kindly. Though he played a couple of matches in the Ranji Trophy, he found his name snubbed from the Central Contract list.
But now things have turned. The Rahul Dravid regime is over. It is now time for the GautamGambhir era. And given Gambhir mentored Iyer and KKR to lift IPL 2024, the new India head coach is ready to give Iyer his chance in ODIs.
And now because of the KKR connection. ShreyasIyer was a standout performer for Team India in the ODI World Cup among batters including the likes of ViratKohli and Rohit Sharma. And now that India is poised to play another ODI series, it was just a matter of time before Iyer got his call back.
