The new T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, embraced the new responsibility that he has been entrusted with. The explosive middle-order batter piped Hardik Pandya to be named as the side’s new skipper for the IND vs. SL T20I series that is scheduled to begin on July 27. Taking to Instagram, SKY expressed his feelings after being named skipper and admitted that he had responsibilities to shoulder now.
Suryakumar Yadav wrote, “Thank you so much for outpouring love, support, and best wishes from you. The last few weeks have been nothing short of a dream, and I am truly grateful. Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it a lot of responsibility, excitement, and enthusiasm. I hope to keep receiving your support and blessings. All fame reaches God; God is great.”
Despite Hardik Pandya being one of the main reasons why Team India won their first ICC title after 11 years, neither his teammates nor the management were in favor of having him as the new T20I captain. It wasn’t a particular flaw in Hardik, but rather Suryakumar Yadav’s appeal that turned everyone towards him.
