The pacer of Sri Lanka, Nuwan Thushara, has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against India, which will commence on July 27. The bowler suffered an injury to his left hand while he was practicing ahead of the series, as per reports. Thushara’s injury comes as bad news for Sri Lanka, which saw another pacer, Dushmantha Chameera, being ruled out just a day earlier.
As per the report, team manager Mahinda Halangoda stated that Thushara sustained a broken finger to his non-bowling hand during a fielding practice. He noted that the injury was severe enough to rule the bowler out of the upcoming series against India. The injury reportedly occurred as Sri Lanka were training under the lights on Wednesday.
Thushara has been a crucial part of the Sri Lankan side in the T20I setup. The pacer has been on top of his game for the side, picking up 8 wickets in the recently concluded T20 World Cup that saw Sri Lanka face an embarrassing exit.
Sri Lanka had a horror outing in the ICC T20 World Cup. The side was knocked out of the group stage itself. Out of the 4 group stage games, Sri Lanka managed to win just a single game. Sri Lanka lost the other 3 games while the remaining game was washed off.
