After failing dope test during LPL 2024 Niroshan Dickwella faces indefinite suspension from SLC

In a shocking development the wicketkeeper and batsman of Sri Lanka cricket team NiroshanDickwella has been suspended from all formats of cricket after an alleged anti-doping violation. The incident is said to have occurred during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League 2024.

In a media release the Sri Lanka Cricket, announced the suspension on Dickwella, who captained the Galle Marvels in the tournament. After a few publications reported the development, SLC came out with a statement.

This is not the first time NiroshanDickwella has found himself embroiled in controversy. In 2021, he was handed a year-long ban alongside teammates DanushkaGunathilaka and KusalMendis for breaching bio-bubble protocols during a tour of England in UK.

Multiple media reports claim that the cricketer tested positive for cocaine during the LPL 2024, a tournament which saw Jaffna Kings emerge as champions and Dickwella’s Marvels ended up as runners-up. This is a significant blow to Dickwella’s career. At 31 years of age, it surely looks like Dickwella’s 138 international games will stick to the same number.
