After Rohit Sharma injury scare in nets BCCI raises ‘unofficial’ complaint to ICC over pitch

The preparations of Indian cricket team for their crucial T20 World Cup match against Pakistan have been disrupted by a fresh injury concern for captain Rohit Sharma and concerns about the practice pitch in New York.

During a practice session at Cantiague Park, just outside New York City, Rohit Sharma was struck on the thumb while facing throwdowns from Nuwan, a specialist bowling coach on Friday. This incident comes just days after he was forced to retire hurt during the match against Ireland due to a sore arm.

While the BCCI has not confirmed the severity of the injury, Rohit was attended to by a physiotherapist and his participation in the upcoming match vs Pakistan remains uncertain.

The incident with Rohit Sharma has highlighted concerns about the practice pitch in New York. According to reports, former Indian captain Virat Kohli also faced difficulties batting due to the uneven bounce of the wicket.

These concerns come after a low-scoring match between Sri Lanka and South Africa at the main venue, Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, raised questions about the suitability of the drop-in pitches being used for the tournament.
