After series win vs. Sri Lanka, Gambhir fires fitness warning, Pandya compliments captain SKY

The head coach of Indian Cricket Team Gautam Gambhir praised team India and captain Surya Kumar Yadav after the series victory against Sri Lanka. Despite being successful on his first outing as the Indian coach, Gambhir emphasised the need for players to focus on their fitness for the season ahead. Former vice captain Hardik Pandya summarised the series for the dressing room, congratulating SKY, Bishnoi, and others for their incredible performances on the field.
While Gambhir showered praise on the Suryakumar Yadav-led side for their performance in the T20Is vs. SL, he also fired a warning to other players over their fitness. The new head coach asked the players who would get an additional break as they were not a part of the ODIs to ensure that they return to the team with full fitness for the Bangladesh series.
Gambhir said while addressing the dressing room, “Make sure you come back fit for the Bangladesh series. You can take a break; you deserve it. But more importantly, keep your fitness levels and skills high for the series. You cannot come for the series thinking I can just turn up.”

Hardik Pandya, who was snubbed from the T20I captaincy right before the Sri Lanka series, credited the spinner duo of Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi for their all-round contributions that helped India win the series. Further, Pandya heaped praise on captain Suryakumar Yadav for using his bowlers in the right manner and labelled his captaincy as brilliant.
