The England cricket team suffered a crushing defeat against India in the India vs. England third Test in Rajkot on February 18 to trail behind for the first time in the Test series.
Chasing a target of 552, the ‘Bazball’ approach of England collapsed dramatically as the visitors got bundled out for 122 runs in the fourth inning. The young opener of Team India, Yashasvi Jaiswal, was the star of the Rajkot Test as he hit his second Test double-century in the third inning to help India post a mammoth target.
In an exclusive chat, Panesar praised the young Indian opener and suggested that the England bowlers work on their line to get Jaiswal out early.
Panesar said, “What England needs to do to bounce back in the series is figure out how to get Yashasvi Jaiswal out early. The left-handed young opener is batting superbly.”
The former England spinner further added, “I believe, even with the new ball, they need to bowl fifth or sixth stump. And with the spinners, I think don’t bowl at the wickets; you know, ball really wide away from his eye line or bowl really wide angles from the crease, which makes it difficult for Jaiswal to line the ball up.”
