Ahead of Champions Trophy challenge, Arshdeep Singh warned by Ex England Cricketer

Former England cricketer David Lloyd has issued a stern warning to Arshdeep Singh ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, emphasizing the challenges the young left-arm pacer will face in his first major ICC event. Lloyd highlighted that the Champions Trophy is a far cry from T20 cricket, stating, “This is not T20, this is not a little party. You’ve got to come back and come back again, and that is something he won’t be used to.”

Arshdeep has been selected for his ability to deliver with the new ball, stepping in for Jasprit Bumrah, who is sidelined due to injury. Despite impressing with figures of 2/33 in his only ODI appearance against England, Arshdeep’s lack of experience—having played just nine ODIs—raises concerns for India’s bowling attack.

With Bumrah and fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj unavailable, India’s pace department will rely on Arshdeep alongside Mohammad Shami and Harshit Rana. While the squad looks strong on paper, doubts linger about their ability to perform under pressure at a major tournament.

As India prepares to kick off their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20, all eyes will be on Arshdeep to see if he can rise to the occasion and deliver for his team.
