Ahead of Champions Trophy, Two new players claim No.1 ranking

Just before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, there have been significant shifts in the ODI rankings. India’s Shubman Gill has surpassed Pakistan’s Babar Azam to become the top-ranked ODI batter. Gill’s recent century against England propelled him to this position, making it the second time he has held the No. 1 ranking. Babar Azam is now in second place, trailing Gill by 23 rating points, while India’s Rohit Sharma remains in third.

In the Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana has climbed to the top spot, surpassing Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Theekshana’s impressive performance against Australia, including a four-wicket haul, helped him achieve this milestone. Rashid Khan is now in second place, just 11 rating points behind Theekshana.

These changes in rankings set an interesting stage for the upcoming Champions Trophy[1]. India is the top-ranked team with a rating of 119, followed by Australia (110) and Pakistan (108). New Zealand is ranked fourth with a rating of 104.
