Shreyas Iyer has returned to India's ODI plans for the upcoming series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After being snubbed for a BCCI central contract, Iyer is back in the ODI setup following Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as head coach.
Ahead of the ODI series against England, Iyer shared his personal mantra. He stated that he doesn't chase success but focuses on his routine and preparation. Iyer believes in staying grounded and living in the present, emphasizing that success is a journey and not an overnight achievement. He also considers himself his own champion, highlighting the importance of self-reliance.
Iyer had a "rollercoaster year as a cricketer," including being dropped from the Test series against England and not being included in the BCCI central contract. Despite these setbacks, Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third IPL title. He was later bought by Punjab Kings for Rs. 26.75 crores and will captain them in IPL 2025.Iyer expressed disappointment in KKR's lack of communication regarding his retention, which led to his departure. Looking ahead, Iyer aims to replicate his successful middle-order partnerships from the 2023 ODI World Cup in the upcoming Champions Trophy
