Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India Pat Cummins should avoid bowling for 8 weeks

Australia Test captain Pat Cummins will not bowl for eight weeks in the build-up to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India will take on Australia in a grueling five-match series Down Under, starting from November onwards. Cummins, who was supposed to gear up for the BGT using domestic cricket, admitted that he had been trying to keep himself fit by doing a lot of gym work.
As per the report, Cummins said that he had been bowling non-stop since the World Test Championship final. Australia, led by Cummins, are the defending champions of the WTC after they defeated India in the finals at Lord’s. Cummins said that he is going to use this 8-week break to recover and regroup for the series against India.
Cummins said, “I’ve basically been bowling non-stop since the World Test Championship final, nearly 18 months ago. This gives me a good seven or eight weeks completely off bowling so the body can recover, then you start building up again for the summer.”
With the WTC and ODI World Cup trophy ticked off his bucket list, Cummins is going after the BGT next. The Australian skipper admits that the trophy has been elusive in his career so far. He added that while Australia was very familiar with the strong Indian side, they were also well positioned heading into the series.
“It’s the trophy I haven’t won before... This is the one trophy a lot of our group hasn’t ticked off,” Cummins said.
