Ahead of the India vs. Zimbabwe T20I series, Tushar Deshpande earns the BCCI fast bowlers’ contract

The fast bowler of the Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings, Tushar Deshpande, has received a major boost to his cricketing career. He has been awarded a fast-bowling contract by the BCCI, adding to his recent selection in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe.
The impressive bowling displays of Tushar Deshpande haven’t gone unnoticed. He has been a consistent performer for both Mumbai and the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL over the past two seasons.
As per the report, this, coupled with his significant improvement over the last year and a half, has convinced the BCCI to invest in him.
Earlier this year, he showcased his talent, taking 15 wickets in five matches for India A against England A.
Deshpande is not alone in receiving a fast-bowling contract. He joins a group of talented quicks, including Mayank Yadav (Delhi & LSG), Akash Deep (Bengal & RCB), Vijaykumar Vyshak (RCB), Umran Malik (Jammu & Kashmir & SRH), Yash Dayal (Uttar Pradesh & RCB), and Vidwath Kaverappa (Karnataka).
The BCCI introduced fast-bowling contracts in February 2024 to focus on the development of promising Indian pacers.
These bowlers, while not yet on central contracts, will receive significant support from the BCCI. Their training and injury management will be overseen by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
With his maiden India call-up and a BCCI fast-bowling contract in hand, Tushar Deshpande’s cricketing future looks bright. He will be aiming to impress in the upcoming Zimbabwe series and establish himself as a valuable asset for the Indian team.
