Ahead of the Ro-Ko reunion, Gambhir warned about managing superstars

Gautam Gambhir is all set to begin his journey with the duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as a coach after playing as teammates alongside them. The veterans have arrived in Sri Lanka for the three-match ODI series that commences on August 2. Ahead of the reunion of the legends, a source fired a warning to Gambhir over handling the dressing room that is going to be filled with superstars.
As per the claim of the source, Gambhir’s biggest challenge would be dealing with the players. The new head coach was warned that coaching the Indian national side was unlike the franchise model, where one could tell the players what to do with authority. The source went on to claim that even former coach Rahul Dravid might have found it hard to adjust initially.
The source said, “It is not an easy task. It is not like a franchise model, where you are the boss and you can dictate terms. That won’t work here. In the India dressing room, you will have to pick up the phone and speak to players, and Dravid was really good at doing that.”
