Ajinkya Rahane believes Age is just a Number and that Fitness is what TrulyMatters

Ajinkya Rahane, at 36, hasn’t given up on his aspirations for an international cricket comeback, despite national selectors focusing on a younger generation of players. Rahane last played for India in the West Indies nearly two years ago but remains confident in his fitness and ability to contribute.

Rahane is currently leading Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, and he believes that strong performances could put him back in contention for a spot on the team, especially with a tour of England approaching. While speaking, Rahane emphasized his passion for the game, his fitness, and his constant hunger to improve. He acknowledged that while he was always shy, he now understands the importance of speaking up and staying relevant in the news, though he considers his cricket to be his primary means of public relations.

Rahane is driven by a desire to play Test cricket and is giving his all to the Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy. He recounted his previous experiences of being dropped and then recalled after performing well, only to be dropped again. Rahane also admitted that it was tough watching the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on TV, as he feels he still has something to offer Indian cricket. He also stated that he had received an offer to be an expert during the BGT but declined it because he felt he could still play.

Rahane also believes that age is just a number and that fitness is what truly matters. He highlighted the importance of having experienced players in the team alongside youngsters for guidance and learning. Rahane hopes to lead Mumbai to their 43rdRanji Trophy title and believes that his performances will speak for themselves.
