Ajinkya Rahane on India captain's Ranji Trophy return says, ‘Aap ko bhi pata hai Rohit ka character. No one has to tell him…’

Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane is set to lead India’s captain Rohit Sharma in an intriguing Ranji Trophy fixture against Jammu and Kashmir at the BKC ground in Mumbai, marking Rohit’s return to domestic cricket after nearly a decade. His last appearance in the Ranji Trophy was in 2016. The BCCI has mandated that all national team players participate in domestic cricket, leading to a star-studded lineup for this crucial match.

Rohit, who has struggled with form recently, will be joined by fellow opener YashasviJaiswal, further strengthening the Mumbai squad. Rahane expressed his happiness about having both players back, stating, “Rohit is Rohit. His character remains relaxed, and he knows his game well.”

Despite recent challenges, including losses in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rahane believes Rohit is determined and hungry to perform. “Once he gets in, I’m sure he will do well,” Rahane added.

This match could be Rohit’s only domestic appearance this season before captaining India in the ODI series against England starting February 6. With significant stakes involved, both players will be keen to make impactful contributions as Mumbai aims to solidify its position in Group A.
