New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr has been crowned the ICC Women’s T20 Cricketer of the Year for 2024, following in the footsteps of her compatriot Suzie Bates.
Kerr’s exceptional year saw her dominate the T20 format with both bat and ball. She amassed 387 runs and claimed an astonishing 29 wickets, instrumental in New Zealand’s historic T20 World Cup triumph.
Her World Cup campaign was nothing short of spectacular. She led the wicket-taking charts with 15 scalps at a remarkable average of 7.33. Her all-round brilliance was on full display in the final against South Africa. A crucial 43-run knock set the stage, followed by a match-winning 3-24 bowling performance, including the key wickets of Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch.
Kerr’s Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards solidified her status as a global force in women’s cricket.
