Anil Kumble sets the target for Ravi Ashwin before he takes retirement to scalp 630 Test wickets

Ravichandran Ashwin achieved a historic feat today as he went on to scalp 500 Test wickets in his 98th Test match for the India Cricket Team. Ashwin dispatched Zac Crawley to get his coveted 500-wicket mark. After stumps on Day 2 of the IND vs. ENG 3rd Test, former India skipper Anil Kumble claimed that Ashwin should be scalping more wickets.
Anil Kumble has set a target for Ravi Ashwin. The former India skipper and head coach has claimed that Ashwin should finish at 625 or 630 Test wickets, not before that. The 37-year-old is approaching the twilight of his career.
After stumps on Day 2, Anil Kumble said to Ravi Ashwin, “You should be finishing around 625 or 630, not below that.”
Ravi Ashwin became only the second Indian bowler to scalp 500 Test wickets. Only Anil Kumble has more Test wickets compared to the Indian all-rounder. Anil Kumble, on the other hand, has 619 Test wickets.
It is only natural that Kumble would want an Indian bowler to surpass him. Should Ashwin go on to scalp 625 or 630 wickets., then he will become the highest Test wicket taker for India.
