Arshdeep Singh Star of Team India named ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year

Arshdeep Singh has been named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2024, solidifying his status as one of the top bowlers in T20 cricket. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer was instrumental in India’s triumph at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, taking 36 wickets in just 18 matches at an impressive average of 13.50. His standout performance came during the World Cup group stage against the USA, where he claimed remarkable figures of 4/9.

Arshdeep’s ability to excel in both powerplay and death overs has made him a crucial asset for India. He consistently delivered under pressure, particularly in the final against South Africa, where he took 2/20 and played a key role in defending a total of 176. His economical bowling and knack for taking wickets at critical moments were pivotal to India’s success.

With only four bowlers worldwide taking more T20I wickets than him this year, Arshdeep’s rise has been meteoric since his international debut in 2022. His performances have not only earned him individual accolades but also established him as a central figure in India’s bowling attack as they enter a new era following their World Cup victory.
