The ongoing saga over the AFG vs NZ Test at Greater Noida has taken a fresh turn now. A report claims that the game was organized at the venue amid the rainy season because few members of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Greater Noida Authority allegedly wanted to ‘make money’. Play was called off consecutively on the first two days after the wet outfield couldn’t be made game-ready despite no rain during the day.
As per report, a source claimed that some officials of ACB and the Greater Noida Authority wanted organized the match at Shahid Vijay Pathik Sports Complex Stadium in Greater Noida in order to ‘make money’.
A source said, “This stadium comes under Greater Noida Authority. Some of its people and some people from Afghanistan Cricket organised a match in Greater Noida during the rainy season to make money.”
The report further claims that the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) reportedly contacted the ACB several times. The board allegedly offered to host the game at Green Park in Kanpur. UPCA reportedly offered all the assistance to the ACB.
“UPCA called several times to say let’s have a meeting. We will give you whatever you need. We have experience, it will be easy for you. UPCA said that the match should be held in Green Park because UP League is being held in Ekana,” the source added.
