Following revelations about Gautam Gambhir’s personal assistant (PA) being present in restricted areas during the IND vs AUS Test series, the BCCI has implemented a strict 10-point policy aimed at promoting discipline and unity within the team. Reports indicated that Gambhir’s PA was seen in player accommodations, VIP areas at stadiums, and even in vehicles designated for national selectors, raising concerns among BCCI officials.
In response, the BCCI has mandated that Gambhir’s PA now stay at a different hotel from the team. A source revealed that the personal secretary of a coaching staff member, previously seen at team hotels, will now be accommodated separately. BCCI officials expressed frustration over the PA’s presence in exclusive spaces, questioning how he accessed areas meant solely for players and selectors.
The new guidelines include restrictions on personal staff accompanying players on tours and emphasize mandatory participation in domestic cricket for national selection. The policy also discourages separate travel arrangements for players and their families to maintain team cohesion. Any deviations from these rules could lead to disciplinary actions, reinforcing the BCCI’s commitment to fostering a professional environment following recent poor performances by the Indian team.
