The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi, is reported to be showing reluctance in disbursing payments owed to Mohammad Hafeez for his stint as the former team director of the national side, as well as payments owed to domestic cricketers who participated in various tournaments last year. This hesitancy appears to arise from the fact that these activities were overseen by Mohsin’s predecessor, Zaka Ashraf.
According to the website, neither Hafeez nor the domestic cricketers have received their dues from the PCB. During Zaka tenure,Hafeez served as team director from Nov 16, 2023, to Feb 16, 2024. However, his appointment was not formally approved before Zaka resigned from his position.
Also during his tenure, Pakistan’s performance on tours to Australia and New Zealand disappointed, with losses in Test matches against Australia and a defeat in the T20I series against New Zealand.
While the paperwork for Hafeez’s payment has been prepared, it awaits approval from relevant authorities. A discrepancy regarding the payment duration exists, as Hafeez’s role commenced on Nov 15, 2023, and concluded on Jan 21, 2024.
With the transition to Mohsin’s leadership, Hafeez was informed on Feb 6 that his services were no longer needed. This decision left Hafeez disappointed, as expressed through a post on social media.
