Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be included in the 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, despite concerns about his fitness following a back spasm during the recent Test against Australia. According to reports, his selection will depend on his ability to participate in at least one competitive match prior to the tournament, allowing selectors to evaluate his fitness.
In contrast, wicket-keeper Sanju Samson and in-form batter Karun Nair are likely to be excluded from the squad. Nair's impressive performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scored 752 runs in eight matches, has raised eyebrows; however, selectors believe recalling him just before a major tournament would be unwise, as he last played for India in 2017.
Samson, who was included in the T20I squad against England, is also unlikely to make the ODI squad due to his absence from the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which has disappointed selectors amid a push from the BCCI for players to engage in domestic competitions.
