As per report, KKR want Shreyas Iyer to stay but not as their top retention ahead of IPL 2025 auction

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are considering retaining ShreyasIyer ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, but he may not be their top retention choice. Despite leading KKR to their third IPL title in 2024, Iyer’s recent batting performance has raised concerns.

Reports indicate that KKR might prioritize retaining all-rounder Andre Russell as their primary player, while Iyer could be retained but at a lower priority. Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif emphasized the importance of Iyer’s leadership, suggesting that retaining him is crucial for team continuity despite his underwhelming stats.

ShreyasIyer took over from Nitish Rana as KKR’s skipper before IPL 2024. In his very first season for the franchise, he amassed 401 runs in IPL 2022 before missing the the next season entirely. He made his comeback in 2024, scoring 351 runs in what was a victorious campaign for the franchise.
