As per report, Virat Kohli to take U-turn on captaincy, set to lead RCB in IPL 2025

Virat Kohli is set to make a comeback as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the 2025 IPL season. After stepping down from the role following the 2021 season, Kohli had relinquished leadership not just for RCB, but also for India's white-ball and Test teams by early 2022. However, according to the *Times of India*, the RCB management has revisited the captaincy issue, and with current captain Faf du Plessis now 40 years old, Kohli has decided to take on the leadership mantle once again.

Kohli was RCB's captain for eight seasons, from 2013 to 2021, and almost led them to an IPL title in 2016. Despite stepping down, he has remained a key figure within the team. His return to captaincy is expected to reinvigorate the franchise, though questions remain about his form, especially after struggling post the IPL 2024 season.

It is yet to be seen what role du Plessis, who has been instrumental in the last few seasons, will play going forward. Kohli’s return as captain will likely mark a new chapter for RCB as they aim to capture their elusive first IPL title.
