The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season is set to kick off on March 14, with the final scheduled for May 25, according to reports released on Friday. As in the previous three seasons, the tournament will feature a total of 74 matches.
In addition to the 2025 schedule, the dates for the 2026 and 2027 seasons have also been confirmed. The 2026 edition will run from March 15 to May 31, while the 2027 season is slated to begin on March 14 and conclude on May 30.
The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking only the second time the auction will be held outside India. The 2024 auction was held in Dubai.
A final pool of 574 players has been listed for the 2025 auction, which includes 48 capped Indian players and 193 capped overseas players. With 46 players already retained by the 10 franchises, there are 204 open slots to be filled, as each team can have a maximum of 25 players. Of these, only 70 spots are available for overseas players, as each squad can include a maximum of eight foreign players.
