Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has retained only three players for the upcoming IPL 2025: Virat Kohli for ₹21 crore, RajatPatidar for ₹11 crore, and YashDayal for ₹5 crore. This limited retention strategy has raised concerns about their overall squad strength, as they lack both bowlers and batting depth. Former RCB star AB de Villiers has shared his thoughts on potential targets for the IPL auction, set to take place in Jeddah on November 24-25.
De Villiers emphasized the need for a world-class spinner, advocating for the return of Yuzvendra Chahal, and suggested adding pacers KagisoRabada and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with all-rounder Ravi Ashwin. He believes these players would significantly enhance RCB’s chances of success. With a remaining auction purse of ₹83 crore, de Villiers is keen on investing heavily in these key players.
He stated, “We need a team that understands the Chinnaswamy Stadium, who can bowl and play to plans.” De Villiers' insights highlight the importance of strategic acquisitions in building a competitive team capable of contending for the title in the upcoming season.
