India has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, as confirmed by the ICC. The team, which is the defending champion after winning the inaugural tournament in 2023 under ShafaliVerma’s leadership, will be captained by Niki Prasad, with SanikaChalke as her deputy. The squad includes wicket-keepers Kamalini G and BhavikaAhire.
Kamalini G, a 16-year-old from Tamil Nadu, recently made headlines when she was signed by the Mumbai Indians for a remarkable Rs 1.6 crore during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction. Her outstanding performance in the U-19 domestic tournament, where she scored 311 runs in eight matches, played a crucial role in her selection for the national team.
India recently triumphed in the Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup, defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs in the final. Key players from that tournament, including G Trisha, who scored 159 runs, and Aayushi Shukla, who took 10 wickets, are also part of the World Cup squad.
The U19 Women's T20 World Cup will feature 16 teams divided into four groups. India is placed in Group A alongside Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. Their campaign kicks off on January 19 against West Indies at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. This tournament presents an opportunity for India to defend its title and showcase its emerging talent on an international stage.
