Australian pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test against India in Adelaide due to a “low-grade left side injury,” as confirmed by Cricket Australia. Hazlewood, who took five wickets in Australia’s 295-run defeat in the first Test at Perth, will remain with the squad to prepare for the remainder of the series. In his absence, uncapped seamers Sean Abbott and Brendon Doggett have been added to the squad, while Scott Boland is expected to take Hazlewood’s place in the day-night Test starting Friday.
Boland, who last played in July 2023, is already part of the squad. Additionally, allrounder Mitchell Marsh is facing fitness concerns after pulling up sore following the Perth match, prompting the inclusion of Beau Webster as cover. The Australian team is navigating these injury setbacks as they prepare for a crucial match against India, aiming to bounce back from their first Test loss.
