BCCI Considering Sending Jasprit Bumrah to New Zealand for Back Injury Evaluation

The BCCI medical team is considering sending JaspritBumrah to New Zealand for further evaluation of his back injury, which has raised concerns about his availability for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Bumrah, who suffered a back spasm during the final Test against Australia, has been under close observation since then. His participation in the tournament hinges on feedback from New Zealand doctors, particularly Dr. Rowan Schouten, with whom he has consulted.

Bumrah was included in India’s 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy, but his fitness remains uncertain. The BCCI is awaiting a comprehensive assessment from New Zealand’s medical professionals before making any definitive decisions regarding his fitness and potential travel.

As of now, Bumrah is expected to miss the first two ODIs against England as he continues his recovery. The final deadline for squad changes ahead of the Champions Trophy is February 13. With India set to begin their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, the team management is keenly monitoring Bumrah’s condition to ensure they have their star pacer available for crucial matches in the tournament.
