BCCI impose ban on personal shoots during tours; brings in harsh guidelines on Indian cricketers’ family travel, personal staffs
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented stringent disciplinary guidelines aimed at enhancing professionalism and discipline within the Indian men’s senior national team. Following a disappointing 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which cost India a spot in the World Test Championship final, the BCCI introduced ten new policies to address concerns regarding team cohesion and indiscipline.
Key changes include restrictions on family travel, with players required to travel with the team and discouraged from making separate arrangements. Family visits are permitted only for players who have been abroad for over 45 days, limited to one visit per series. Additionally, personal staff such as managers, chefs, and assistants are banned from tours unless explicitly approved by the BCCI.
Players are also prohibited from engaging in personal advertisement shoots during series or tours to maintain focus on their cricketing responsibilities. The baggage allowance has been streamlined, with players responsible for any excess costs incurred.
The BCCI has emphasized that adherence to these guidelines is mandatory, with serious consequences for non-compliance, including potential bans from tournaments or financial penalties. This initiative reflects the BCCI’s commitment to fostering a disciplined environment as the team prepares for upcoming international challenges.
