Before Boxing Day Test Ian Healy says, “Rishabh Pant’s wicketkeeping a work in progress”

Rishabh Pant’s recent performances have raised concerns, particularly regarding his wicketkeeping skills, as he struggles to regain his form following a long injury layoff. Despite being a proven match-winner for India, his recent outings have been marred by crucial mistakes behind the stumps. In the Adelaide Test, Pant dropped Nathan McSweeney early in the innings when he was on just 3 runs; McSweeney went on to score 39. Additionally, he failed to take a catch from Travis Head, who capitalized on the missed opportunity and scored significantly.

Ian Healy, one of cricket’s finest wicketkeepers, weighed in on Pant’s struggles, noting that he is still a “work in progress.” Healy pointed out that Pant’s trigger movements behind the stumps can lead to errors, suggesting that he needs to refine his technique to improve his performance.

Despite these setbacks, Healy remains optimistic about Pant’s potential for growth, citing his dedication to improving through practice drills. As India looks ahead in the series, fans hope that Pant can quickly address these issues and return to form as both a batsman and a wicketkeeper. His ability to bounce back will be crucial for India’s success in upcoming matches.
