Before Diwali, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah became ‘environment sensitive'
On November 2, there will be no fireworks display at the Wankhede Stadium. To negate the pollution concerns, during or after the Cricket World Cup 2023 India vs. Sri Lanka match in Mumbai, there will be no explosions in the sky. The same was confirmed by the BCCI honorary secretary, Jay Shah, on Wednesday.
BCCI is sensitive to environmental concerns. And Jay Shah took up the matter formally with the ICC, and there it was decided that there won’t be any fireworks displays in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level.
Jay Shah, the secretary of BCCI, said, “BCCI is sensitive to environmental concerns. I took up the matter formally with the ICC and there won’t be any fireworks display in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level. The Board is committed to combating environmental issues and will always place the interests of our fans and stakeholders at the forefront.”
