Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fans have reason to celebrate as Abdul Samad, their new acquisition from the IPL 2025 mega auction, showcased his explosive batting by scoring a stunning century for Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. On December 31, Samad hammered 112 runs off just 64 balls against Mizoram, demonstrating his aggressive style by hitting nine boundaries and six sixes at a strike rate of 175.00.
Despite J&K losing three quick wickets early on, Samad arrived at the crease and played a pivotal role in guiding his team to a formidable total of 377/6. His innings featured only 14 dot balls, as he consistently looked for singles and doubles while maintaining an impressive boundary rate. Samad’s return to form is promising for LSG, who previously struggled to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024. With a power-packed batting lineup that includes Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller, Samad is expected to play a significant role as an impact substitute. Having initially joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020, he aims to capitalize on this opportunity with LSG and make a lasting impact in the upcoming season.
