Before the IPL 2025 Auction BCCI is set to meet IPL owners in the middle of the Sri Lanka Series

As you all know, the Indian Premier League is one of the most high-profile T20 tournaments in the world, and as the T20 World Cup is done, the focus once again shifts to the upcoming season of the Cash Rich League. There is going to be a mega auction before the 2025 IPL, and there are plenty of issues on the table. According to a report, the meeting regarding all these issues is going to take place on the 30th and 31st of July.

It is expected that the meeting will take place at the BCCI office in Mumbai and will include issues like player attention, the right to match card, and the salary caps of the franchise. There have been a number of reports in the past that many franchises won't eat retentions to maintain the value of their brand and the loyalty of their players towards the franchise.

On the other side, some of the franchises want to keep it on the lower side. According to a report, BCCI has also been in talks with the franchise activity on various issues separately, with IPL CEO Hemang Amin taking the lead.

There is also going to be a discussion on the salary, which is expected to be around 120 crore in the first year of the next 3-year cycle. Subsequently, the retention value of each player could also come up for discussion. Earlier, the salary of the top retention was around 16 to 17% of the salary cap, which is around Rs 15 crore. If the same principle is followed, then this time the salary of the top retained player is going to be Rs 20 crore.
