Bharat Arun Ex-Indian batting coach opens up on how Virat Kohli would react to criticism

The 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy proved disappointing for India and star batter ViratKohli. Despite high expectations for his performance in Australia, Kohli managed only 190 runs in nine innings, raising concerns about his vulnerability to deliveries outside the off-stump. This recurring issue has led to questions regarding his receptiveness to coaching and feedback.

Former Indian batting coach Bharat Arun discussed Kohli’s approach to criticism, noting that he is open to suggestions but expects solid reasoning behind them. “Virat will definitely ask questions like ‘what is wrong with me?’ and ‘how did I miss my runs?’” Arun explained in a recent Interview.

As India prepares for the upcoming white-ball series against England and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, there is significant pressure on Kohli to regain form. His Test average has dropped to 46.85, and he has struggled to find consistency over the past few years. The upcoming white-ball series could provide a much-needed opportunity for Kohli to break free from his lean patch in Test cricket.

It remains to be seen whether team management will continue to back Kohli for the five-match Test series against England scheduled for June, as fans and analysts alike hope for a resurgence from the seasoned batter.
