Brutal Take of R Ashwin's On Social Media Fans

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed concern over the escalating toxicity of fan wars on social media, particularly among supporters of cricketing icons like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ash ki Baat, Ashwin emphasized the need for discussions to focus on cricket itself rather than on players' brand values. He remarked, "Fan wars on social media are becoming very toxic. I have always said, let's discuss cricket as cricket and not like the brand value of a player.”

Ashwin shared his personal experience as a fan, recalling his admiration for Sachin Tendulkar without disparaging other players like Rahul Dravid. He stated, "Take for example, as a cricket fan, I used to be a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar. That doesn't mean I will talk poorly of Rahul Dravid.” This perspective highlights the importance of respecting all players regardless of personal preferences.

The debate surrounding Kohli and Sharma has intensified following India's recent Test series losses to New Zealand and Australia. Both players have faced criticism for their performances during this challenging period. Despite this scrutiny, Ashwin refrained from speculating about their futures in the team, acknowledging that each player has their own thoughts regarding their careers. He urged fans to appreciate cricket collectively rather than engaging in divisive rivalries that detract from the sport's spirit.
