Cheteshwar Pujara equals Ranji Trophy record as he hits 18th First Class double hundred

Cheteshwar Pujara achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring his 18th double century in the Ranji Trophy, leading Saurashtra against Chhattisgarh in Rajkot. Pujara reached this landmark in 348 balls, showcasing his exceptional batting skills. This innings also marked his 25th century in the Ranji Trophy and contributed to surpassing 21,000 runs in First-Class cricket.

This made him the fourth-highest run-scorer among Indians, trailing only behind legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar. Despite being out of the Test squad since the World Test Championship final in 2023, Pujara has maintained impressive form, having scored six centuries across 16 First-Class matches this year.

His 25 centuries is only bettered by Paras Dogra (30) among active players in the Ranji Trophy. With nearly 7500 runs, Pujara is also Saurashtra’s second-highest run-getter in the tournament, behind Sitanshu Kotak.
