Cheteshwar Pujara reveals the key to Shubman Gill’s success in BGT

As India prepares to face Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, all eyes will be on Shubman Gill, who has shown great promise in his previous outings. Gill is expected to play a crucial role in India’s bid for a third consecutive series win in Australia. Veteran cricketer CheteshwarPujara shared his insights on Gill, emphasizing the young batter’s potential and the challenges he may face.

While speaking Pujara advised, “Shubman has played in Australia, so he should stick to his natural game.” He stressed the importance of Gill’s shot selection in Australian conditions, noting that the bouncy pitches could punish overly aggressive strokes. Pujara believes that Gill’s experience in Australia, combined with careful shot selection, will be key to his success.

Pujara also commented on the evolving nature of Test cricket, noting how players today often bring an aggressive mindset from white-ball formats into red-ball cricket. “Players are playing to their strengths,” he added, highlighting the importance of understanding one’s own game in the modern Test arena.

India’s bowling coach MorneMorkel provided an update on Gill’s fitness, stating that his recovery from a thumb fracture is progressing well, and a decision on his participation will be made before the Perth Test. With 806 runs in 10 matches, Gill’s impressive form, combined with Pujara’s advice, positions him to make a significant impact in the upcoming series.
