CSK CEO KasiViswanathan and Coach Stephen Fleming Statement on Dhoni Head Over Captaincy to Gaikwad

On the eve of the IPL opener, cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a surprising decision by relinquishing the captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings and passing it on to opener RuturajGaikwad.
As per reports, CSK CEO KasiViswanathan emphasized that Dhoni’s decisions are always in the team’s best interest, indicating respect for the veteran player’s choice.
Also, the head coach of CSK, Stephen Fleming, while giving his statement, said that this was a very thoughtful decision by MS Dhoni, keeping in mind the future. The time was good. This will be a grooming process for Ruturaj. Hopefully, MS will play the entire season. His body is much better than last season.”
Gaikwad’s stellar performance in the previous season, where he scored 590 runs at an impressive strike rate, solidified his position as a key player for the team. Despite being relatively young, Gaikwad has prior experience in leadership, having led the Indian team to victory in the Asian Games. While Dhoni steps down as captain, he is expected to maintain a significant role within the franchise, albeit not as a player. CSK had previously attempted a leadership transition in the 2022 edition, which proved unsuccessful.
