DC’s Hemang Badani cites Nehra & Chandrakant Pandit’s victorious reigns as he bats for more Indian coaches in IPL
batter, has been appointed as the Director of Cricket. These appointments signal a restructuring of the DC coaching staff, with the franchise aiming for its first IPL title.
Badani brings coaching experience from various leagues, including the TNPL, LPL, SA20, and ILT20. He served as a fielding coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2021-2023. He emphasizes the importance of Indian coaches in the IPL, given that Indian players make up a large portion of each team. Badani believes local coaches can better connect with and understand Indian players from diverse backgrounds. He also pointed out that local coaches would know the conditions and the players better and hence wouldn’t face much difficulty.
Other members of the Delhi Capitals' coaching staff include Munaf Patel as Bowling Coach and Vijay Bharadwaj as Head Talent Scout. The co-owners of DC, the GMR Group and JSW Sports, will alternate operational leadership roles every two years.
