Despite Hamstring Injury, Australia back skipper Mitchell Marsh to bowl

The participation of Australian captain Mitchell Marsh in the upcoming T20 World Cup is not in doubt, although his bowling availability remains uncertain due to a hamstring injury.
Marsh sustained a hamstring tear during the IPL 2024 stint with the Delhi Capitals, and his recovery has been slower than anticipated. While he is currently attending a training camp and batting in the nets, coach Andrew McDonald expects Marsh to be unfit to bowl until the week before the World Cup commences.
Despite the limited bowling availability, McDonald is confident Mitchell Marsh will be fully fit to bat in the opening World Cup match. The coach emphasised the team’s all-rounder depth, allowing them to strategically utilise Marsh’s bowling throughout the tournament.
Andrew McDonald addressed concerns regarding Marsh’s lack of match practice, highlighting the upcoming practice games before the World Cup opener. He also defended the team’s selection, which features a more experienced core, by emphasising the players’ proven ability to deliver in high-pressure situations.
