Digvesh Singh Rathi Overcomes Setbacks to Shine Against GT in IPL 2025

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) leg-spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi continued his impressive IPL 2025 campaign, overcoming dropped chances by his teammates to claim a crucial wicket against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday. Rathi was denied wickets earlier when Abdul Samad dropped Sai Sudharsan on 49 and skipper Rishabh Pant missed a tough chance off Sherfane Rutherford. Despite these setbacks, Rathi delivered in his final over, dismissing Jos Buttler with the help of a brilliant backward-running catch by Shardul Thakur.

Rathi has been a standout performer for LSG this season, with eight wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 7.73. His consistency includes notable spells like 2/31 against Delhi Capitals and 2/30 versus Punjab Kings, making him a key bowler for the franchise. However, his infamous “notebook celebration” has landed him in trouble twice this season, resulting in fines totaling ₹5,62,500. Any further violations could lead to stricter penalties, including a potential ban by the BCCI.

Despite the controversies, Rathi’s ability to bounce back under pressure highlights his resilience. His performances have earned praise from cricketing experts, and he remains an integral part of LSG’s domestic-heavy bowling attack as they aim for playoff contention.
