Due to both personal and professional reasons, KL Rahul has chosen to part ways with the LSG

KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batter for Team India, has decided to part ways with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rahul was initially acquired by LSG for ₹17 crore as a draft pick and was appointed captain ahead of the IPL 2022 season. Under his leadership, the team made it to the playoffs in their first two seasons but struggled to perform in the most recent edition.

According to a report, KL Rahul has opted to leave LSG for both professional and personal reasons. Despite being offered the top retention slot by the franchise, Rahul decided it was time to move on. “LSG were ready to offer top retention to Rahul, but he ultimately decided to part ways due to personal and professional factors,” a source revealed.

Following this decision, Rahul will enter the auction pool, where he is expected to attract significant interest from multiple franchises. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have already expressed interest in securing his services for the upcoming season. All four teams are expected to engage in a bidding war for Rahul in the 2025 auction.
