During the ENG vs. NED match, Ben Stokes smashed the maiden WC hundred

Ben Stokes of the England cricket team smashed his maiden ODI World Cup century during England’s CWC 2023 match against the Netherlands at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Wednesday. The left-hander reached the three-digit mark off 78 balls with a reverse sweep off pacer Paul van Meekeren in the 48th over of England’s innings.
Earlier, Dawid Malan gave England an explosive start after they won the toss and chose to bat against the Netherlands in the World Cup encounter in Pune on Wednesday. He, along with Jonny Bairstow, added 48 runs for the opening wicket before Bairstow fell for 15 (17). Malan has completed his seventh half-century and was joined by Joe Root in the middle. Together, they added 85 runs for the second wicket, but England have since lost Malan, Root, Harry Brook, Joe Root, and Moeen Ali in quick succession.
Ben Stokes, however, has remained firm in the middle and has completed a half-century. He has also stitched a crucial 100-plus stand with Chris Woakes for the seventh wicket.
