Ex Captain of India Women Cricket Team Mithali Raj appointed as Andhra’s Mentor of Women’s Cricket Operations

Former India women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj has taken on the role of Mentor of Women’s Cricket Operations for the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). She has signed a three-year contract, with her primary goal being the scouting and development of young talent across Andhra Pradesh. ACA Secretary S. Satish Babu expressed excitement over Mithali’s involvement, which aligns with the association’s efforts to boost women’s cricket.

A High Performance Academy for women cricketers is being set up in Anantapur, where 80 girls from various age groups will receive year-round training, including academics. The academy will offer expert coaching, medical support, and focus on physical conditioning and skill development. Satish emphasized that this long-term initiative is not expected to produce immediate results but aims to nurture talent for the future.

In line with Mithali’s vision, the ACA plans to organize regular matches for under-15 girls against teams from other states and boys in higher age groups to enhance their skills and confidence. Additionally, women cricketers will receive financial support similar to their male counterparts, with a focus on nutrition. Mithali’s team will conduct a critical review to identify rural talent for long-term training and exposure.
