The former captain of the New Zealand cricket team and current test head coach of England, Brendon McCullum, talks about how his knock of an unbeaten 158 in the very first IPL game changed his life, turning him from “just a cricketer for New Zealand” to a T20I icon.
McCullum spoke at the Royal Challengers Bangalore innovation lab leader meet, which was held in Bengaluru last week, and addressed a convergence of global sporting stakeholders.
McCullum said in the press conference that “the reason why I dream about the moment is because it literally changed my life. Hi boss, just a cricketer for New Zealand, where no one really knew about what you did where you were from or what you were capable of. But they provided the platform, the forum, and the opportunity to change my life.”
In the very first match of the Indian Premier League in 2008, McCullum represented Kolkata Knight Riders and scored an unbeaten 158 runs in 73 balls with 10 boundaries and 13 sixes.
